Here’s some highlights from my year in writing and research.
Selling out of my self-published poetry chapbook Educating Storm. While off work during the Alberta Teacher’s strike this October, I printed a second run of 100 books, so it’s back on sale now: https://www.noahjcain.com/product-page/educating-storm.
Placing poems appearing in three great magazines this summer: The New Quarterly, Prairie Fire, and Contemporary Verse 2. After taking a bit of a break from submitting while I was working on my Master’s, it was nice to have some new writing out in the world.
Presenting about writing and embodiment to researchers and fellow teachers at George Brown College and University of Manitoba this summer.
Hearing that Yolk Literary Magazine nominated my story for the revamped Journey Prize.
Reading a new short story to a nice crowd at Sheldon Birnie’s Wednesdays of Wild and Wonderful Words at Sookram’s Brewing.
Contributing a new poem to a friend’s Christmas card fundraiser.
After moving to Edmonton this fall, it’s been nice to get a taste of the literary community here.
Looking forward to 2026.
